Abstract of the Disclosure Gyroscope apparatus is known in which a rotor is supported by bearings for rotation about its axis and in which a gimbal and inertia ring are mounted by flexure pivots at one end of the rotor, outside the bearings. In the present invention the rotor is of tubular form and a gimbal ring encircles the rotor intermediate its supported ends. The gimbal ring is mounted on the rotor by a pair of flexure pivots for angular displacement about an axis at right angles to the rotor axis. An inertia ring is mounted concentric- ally with the gimbal ring by another pair of flexure pivots for angular displacement about an axis at right angles to the rotor axis and the axis of displacement of the gimbal ring. The major part of each flexure pivot is contained within the thickness of the gimbal ring. Displacement of the inertia ring is sensed by pick-offs, the outputs of which are used to control the restoring torque applied by torquers located outwardly of the pick-offs.
