ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A gyroscopic instrument comprises a stabilising gyro and a control gyro mounted on a common driving shaft. The rotor of the stabilising gyro is rigidly mounted on the shaft, and the rotor of the control gyro is mounted on the shaft by means which permit the polar axis of the gyro to move through a small angle from colinearity with the driving shaft. Preferably, the rotor of the control gyro is mounted as a dynamically turned free rotor gyro, and a synchronous motor is provided for driving the dri- ving shaft.
