Disclosed are hxuB and hxuC genes and DNA segments from H. influenzae such as H. influenzae type b (Hib) and nontypeable H. influenzae (NTHI). The HxuB and HxuC proteins, being surface expressed, are contemplated for use in the preparation of vaccines against pathological H. influenzae infections, and in particular, vaccines for use in children and other individuals who respond poorly to capsular-based vaccines. DNA segments encoding these proteins and anti- HxuB and HxuC antibodies will also be of use in various screening, diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
L'invention décrit des gènes hxuB et hxuC ainsi que des segments d'ADN provenant de H. influenzae tels que H. influenzae de type b (Hib) et H. influenzae inclassable (NTHI). On envisage d'utiliser les protéines HxuB et HxuC, exprimées à la surface, dans la préparation de vaccins contre les infections pathologiques dues à H. influenzae, et notamment de vaccins utilisés chez les enfants et chez d'autres sujets réagissant faiblement aux vaccins à base capsulaire. Les segments d'ADN codant ces protéines ainsi que les antigènes anti-HxuB et HxuC sont également intéressants pour diverses applications diagnostiques, thérapeutiques et de criblage.
