- 11 - HAIL MONITOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Assessing hail damage to crops is difficult and inaccurate so that hail damage insurance claims are usually estimated visually and at selected locations in a field. The present device allows the operator to esti- mate, reasonably accurately, the number, size and direct- ion of the hail stones by providing a permanent physical record which may be taken at selected locations in a field. It consists of a pad of material such as foamed polystyrene mounted in a frame and supported above the ground in a position horizontal to the ground surface. The hail leaves depressions in the upper surface of the pad which indicates the size, frequency and direction of the hail.
