ABSTRACT A hair bleaching powder for admixture with an aqueous medium such as water or aqueous hydrogen peroxide containing as essential components a hair-bleaching oxidizing agent such as peroxygen compound and, as a thickening agent, a salt of a cross-linked interpolymer of a mixture containing a polymerizable monoolefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid and a polyalkenyl polyether of a polyol containing at least 4 carbon atoms to which are attached at least 3 hydroxyl groups; the paste resulting from the admixture of such powder with an aqueous medium; methods of making and using such compositions for bleaching hair.
