ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hair conditioner having a pearly luster based on a quaternary compound and fat alcohol, consisting o-F A) 0.2 to 10% by weight of coconut fatty acid monoethanol amide, B) 0.4 to 10% by weigh-t of a straight-chain -Fat alcohol containing m carbon atoms (m=14 to 18), C) 0.1 to 4% by weight of a quaternary compound having the formula Image Image and/or wherein R1 represents Cn-alkyl (n-12 to 22), coconut amidoethyl, coconut amidopropyl, R'-Y (R'-Cn-alkyl, Y=-O-C(O)-CH2 or -C(O)- O-CH2CH2 ), R2 represents CH3, CH2CH2OH or CH2CH3, R3 represents CH3, CH2CH20H, benzyl or acetamidyl, X? represents C1 , Br , CH3SO4, ? S042 , lactate or acetate , D) 70 to 99.3% by weight of water and E) O to 24% by weight of conventional cosmetic additives, m+n being greater than or equal to 29 (m+n?29), A/B is between 0.1 and 3, C/A+B is 0.05 to 0.5 and the proportion by weight of the additives is not greater than the sum oF A+B+C.
