An applicator for applying a liquid to the hair of an individual comprises a hollow reservoir and a head. The hollow reservoir has a portion sized to be received in the hand of the individual. The portion has a resilient member which is positioned to be engaged by the fingers of the individual when the portion is received in the hand of an individual. The head has a surface; a plurality of tines extending upwardly from the surface, the tines being spaced to pass through the hair of the individual; and, a plurality of openings in a member selected from the group consisting of the surface, the tines, and the surface and the tines, the openings being sized to permit the flow of the fluid therethrough. A passageway extends from the openings to said hollow reservoir so that said openings are in fluid flow communication with the hollow reservoir.
