Long term removal of hair is achieved by delivering a collagen cleaving agent intradermally or subdermally. This is thought to disrupt the fine collagen network anchoring the hair follicles within the dermis and additionally by altering the normal functioning of the dermal papilla cells located in the base of the hair follicle. The method of removal is applicable to animal husbandry methods such as maintaining the breech of sheep hairless and thus has application as a substitute to mulesing. The method is also applicable for cosmetic hair removal.
Une épilation à long terme des poils est réalisée par administration d'un agent de clivage au collagène de manière intradermique ou sous-cutané. Ceci permet de détruire le fin réseau de collagène entourant les follicules des poils à l'intérieur du derme tout en modifiant le fonctionnement normal des cellules des papilles dermiques situées à la base dudit follicule de poils. Ledit dispositif d'épilation est applicable à des procédés d'élevage d'animaux tels que le maintien sans poils de l'arrière-train d'un mouton et ainsi cette application peut être un substitut à l'opération de Mules. Ledit procédé est également applicable à l'épilation cosmétique.
