A heating element for a hair dryer comprises a holder made of non-flammable dielectric material and comprising a pair of plates assembled in an orthogonally crossed configuration with a central axis, having a plurality of notches on their longitudinal edges, the plates together defining spaces in a dihedral angle opposed by a central vertex; a heating resistor wound around the plates as a spiral layer and retained by the notches; and a halogen tube with U form, provided with a carbon filament, is mounted within the spaces such that its arms are substantially parallel to the central axis and are contained between the spiral layer and the plates. The element provides a simple economic construction which allows for the selective release of a focused controlled flow of ultraviolet radiation within the hair-drying process, concurrently with the supply of heated air.
