In one of its aspects, the present invention provides novel compounds of formula (I) wherein X is a halide; Y is selected from the group consisting es- sentially of halide, sulfate, acetate, tosyl, mesyl, benzoate and phosphate; R1 is se- lected from the group consisting essen- tially of hydrogen, a substituted or unsub- stituted C1-C10 alkyl group and a substi- tuted or unsubstituted C6-C10 aryl group; and R2 is selected from the group consist- ing essentially of hydrogen, trityl, acetyl, benzyl, benzoyl, dimethoxy trityl, tosyl, mesyl and an acyl radical of an organic carboxylic acid (a) in which R is selected from the group consisting essentially of a substituted or unsubstituted C1-C20 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C6-C10 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C4-C10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C7-C12 aralkyl group and a substituted or unsubstituted C7-C20 cage-type hydrocarbon group. A process for produce compounds of formula (I) is described. The compounds of formula (I) are useful as antineoplastic and antiviral agents.

Un procédé de production des composés de la formule (I) est également décrit. Ces composés sont aptes à être utilisés comme agents antinéoplasiques et antiviraux.
