The invention provides novel compounds of formula (I): CF3-CXCl-CH(OH)CH2- C(CH3)2-CH2-CO2R, wherein X represents chloro or bromo and R represents hydrogen or alkyl of up to 4 carbon atoms, processes for preparing them and their use as intermediates in the preparation of insecticidal cyclopropane derivatives. Also provided are novel compounds of formula (IV): BrCH2-CH2- C(CH3)2-CH2-CO2R, wherein R represents alkyl of up to 4 carbon atoms, useful as intermediates in the preparation of the compounds of formula (I).
L'invention concerne de nouveaux composés de la formule CF¿3?-CXCl-CH(OH)CH¿2?-C(CH¿3?)¿2?-CH¿2?-CO¿2?R (I). Dans cette formule, X représente un atome de chlore ou de brome et R représente un hydrogène ou un alkyle ayant jusqu'à 4 atomes de carbone. L'invention concerne également des procédés pour préparer ces composés et leur utilisation comme intermédiaires dans la préparation de dérivés insecticides du cyclopropane. L'invention concerne également de nouveaux composés de la formule BrCH¿2?-CH¿2?-C(CH¿3?)¿2?-CH¿2?-CO¿2?R (IV). Dans cette formule, R représente un alkyle ayant jusqu'à 4 atomes de carbone. Ces composés sont utiles comme intermédiaires pour la préparation des composés de la formule (I).
