Abstract A halogenated polyester composition is improved in view of impact resistance, rigidity and flame retardancy and is produced by melt-keading (A) 99 to 40 weight parts of a halogen-containing aromatic polyester and (B) 1 to 60 weight parts of (B-1) a copolymer of an alpha-olefin and glycidyl ester of an unsaturated acid or (B-2) a graft copolymer of (B-l) and a polymer of units of the formula (1): Image (I) solidifying the molten mixture by cooling and thermally treating the resulting mixture in an inert gas atmosphere or under a reduced pressure of 10 Torr or lower at a temperature which is 120°C or above but does not exceed the melting point of the mixture for at least one hour to thereby carry out the solid phase reaction
