The present invention includes novel compounds of the formula (I) wherein X is absent or trans or cis CHCH, R1 is (C1-C10) alkyl unsubstituted or substituted by one to three hydroxy, (C1-C10) alkenyl unsubstituted or substituted by one to three hydroxy, (C1-C10) alkynyl unsubstituted or substituted by one to three hydroxy, or aryl unsubstituted or substituted by one to three hydroxy; R2 is hydrogen, alkyl or aryl; R3 and R4 are, independently of each other, H, halogen, or a solubilizing group, with the proviso that at least one of R3 and R4 is halogen; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The invention also includes pharmaceutically acceptable formulations of said compounds which exhibit antibiotic activity against a wide spectrum of microorganisms including organisms which are resistant to multiple antibiotic families and are useful as antibacterial agents for treatment or prophylaxis of bacterial infections, or their use as antiseptics, agents for sterilization or disinfection.

L'invention concerne des composés de formule (I), dans laquelle X est absent ou représente un CHCH trans ou cis, R¿1? désigne un (C¿1?-C¿10?) alkyle non substitué ou substitué par un à trois hydroxy, un (C¿1?-C¿10?) alcényle non substitué ou substitué par un à trois hydroxy, un (C¿1?-C¿10?) alkynyle non substitué ou substitué par un à trois hydroxy ou un aryle non substitué ou substitué par un à trois hydroxy; R¿2? désigne un hydrogène, un alkyle ou un aryle; R¿3? et R¿4? représentent de manière indépendante H, un halogène ou un groupe de solubilisation, pour autant qu'au moins un élément parmi R¿3? et R¿4? représente un halogène; ainsi que des sels acceptables sur le plan pharmaceutique de ceux-ci. L'invention concerne également des formulations acceptables sur le plan pharmaceutique desdits composés possédant une activité antibiotique contre un large spectre de micro-organismes, notamment des organismes résistant à plusieurs familles d'antibiotiques, et étant utiles comme agents antibactériens destinés au traitement ou à la prophylaxie d'infections bactériennes, ou l'utilisation de celles-ci comme agents antiseptiques, agents de stérilisation ou de désinfection.
