Process for the Preparation of Novel Halogeno-banzothiophene- carboxylic Acids Abstract of the Disclosure Novel halogeno-benzothiophene-carboxylic acids can be prepared according to a new process by reacting thiophenols with dihalogenomaleic anhydrides and cyclising the resultant intermediate in the presence of a Lewis acid. The novel halogeno-benzothiophene-carboxylic acids are valuable in- termediates for the preparation of pharmaceutically active compounds having an antiallergic action.
