HAMMER AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME Abstract of the Disclosure A hammer for use in sheet metal and stone working has an elongated hammer head with a circular head face at the front of the hammer head and an adapter with an adapter face in contact with the head face and with a striking face opposite to the adapter face. Either one face of the head face or the adapter face is provided with a plurality of face sections which extend radially from the central portion of the face and slant in the circular direction of the face. The other one face is provided with a plural- ity of projections which engage respectively with the slant surfaces of the face sections. The hammer head and the adapter are encircled at their adjoining peripheries by a tubular resilient member which elastically secures the hammer head and the adapter to each other. The tubular resilient member allows the rotation of the adapter to be caused at the time of hammer striking, and returns the adapter to its original position when the striking impact force is removed. The striking face may have a plurality of projecting stripes. The hammer head may have a handle for hand grip.
