A B S T R A C T The invention provides a hammer assembly particularly adapted to drive tent pegs or the like of a bent elongate configuration into an operative position in the ground. The assembly has an anvil member with recesses therein for accommodating the bend of a bent spring steel type of tent peg, means for releasably closing the recess to retain the tent peg in the recess, a striker head associated with the anvil member and hammer means for applying a percussive force to the anvil member.
