ABSTRACT A hammer, particularly for use in sheet metal processing is disclosed. An air channel communicates with an air outlet on or near the head of the hammer so that compressed air may be supplied to the working surface of the hammer to keep the work piece cool as it is being worked. The air channel may be provided in the handle or in a separate conduit attached to and running along the handle. There may be several air outlets all communicating with the channel or this may be a nozzle which can be swivelled to two or more different portions to direct the air flow as desired. A manually operable switch is provided on the handle by means of which air flow can be chosen or interrupted as desired.
