A hand-held device for marking a golf ball has a handle and first and second forks for holding the golf ball between the forks. The golf ball is frictionally secured between a circular aperture in the first fork and a concave rubber gripper rotationally mounted to the second fork. A rotation wheel drives the concave rubber gripper to rotate the golf ball. A marker holder is affixed to the handle. In operation, a marker is loaded into the marker holder and uncapped. A golf ball is fitted between the aperture in the first fork and the concave rubber gripper. The rotation wheel is turned to rotate the wheel, thereby causing the marker to circumscribe a mark around the circumference of the golf ball. Optionally, the golf ball can be rotated ninety degrees to circumscribe a second mark orthogonal to the first mark.
