ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure herein describes a hand-held electric pipe cutter that houses an electric motor to drive a rotatable C-shaped pipe receiving and cutting jaw. The jaw includes two cylindrical housings which are operatively connected to the motor and rotatably mounted relative to one another. One of the housings has a cam surface on which rides a cam follower on the other housing. The outer surfaces of the housings display gear wheels, the number of teeth varying from one wheel to the other so that, for a given number of turns of one housing, the other housing has turned one additional rotation thereby causing a cutting blade in the one housing to progressively penetrate into and cut the pipe to be cut.
