ABSTRACT A hand-held sailing rig for wind propelled locomotion includes a sail having a slightly curved luff and a substantially semi-circular leech, stiffening means associated with the luff for stiffening the luff, and a boom extending from the mid-point of the luff to the mid-point of the leech. A user of the sail holds onto the boom, while standing windward of the sail, on skis, skates, a sailboard, or the like.
