A skate sharpening device includes a handle and a sharpening bit fixedly supported on the handle. The bit has an outwardly curved edge which is oriented relative to the handle such that manually passing the handle over the ice skate blade causes the outwardly curved edge of the sharpening bit to engage and thereby sharpen the skate blade.
