- 1 - Abstract: The present invention relates to a cursor control system for use with a computer having a CRT display. The system includes a hand mounted signal generator for generating an X axis cursor position signal and a Y axis cursor position signal. The generator includes an X axis array of light transmitting elements, an X axis array of light receiving elements, a Y axis array of light trans- mitting elements and a Y axis array of light receiving elements. A space is provided for separating the X axis array of light transmitting elements from the X axis array of light receiving elements and for separating the Y axis array of light transmitting elements from the Y axis array of light receiving elements. An interrupting unit is provided which is controlled by a finger of the hand partially located within the space for interrupting light energy from reaching individual light receiving elements in the X axis and Y axis array of light receiving elements, the light energy having been transmitted from associated individual light transmitting elements in the X axis and Y axis array of light transmitting elements. A scanner is provided for sequentially scanning the X axis and Y axis array of light transmitting elements and the X axis and Y axis array of light receiving elements to thereby produce the X axis cursor position signal and the Y axis cursor position signal.
