A hand protector for shucking oysters and other molluscs. It operates like a clamp to grip the oyster that is to be opened. The hand protector consists of two half-shell sections, one upper and one lower. The upper half-shell has a semi-circular body to help in gripping during handling, a transversal opening at one end and a funnel-shaped neck at the other. The lower half-shell comprises a hollow section that is flat and wider than the upper half-shell; the front end is flared and the rear is fitted with a Z-shaped pivot arm connecting the two half-shells via a pivot point by passing through a transverse opening in the upper half-shell. The pivot arm inserted in the opening makes it possible to clamp down on the oyster and hold it firmly in position.

Le protège-mains est fait de deux demi-coquilles, une supérieure et une inférieure. La demi-coquille supérieure comprend un corps demi- circulaire, pour aider à la préhension lors de la manipulation, une ouverture transversale à un bout et un cou en forme d'entonnoir à l'autre.
