Abstract of the invention A handle folding device for a fishing reel is disclosed which is constituted such that a knuokle part is provided to the handle shaft in such a manner that the handle shaft can be folded up during the carrying and storing of the reel by pulling a releasing sleeve provided to the handle shaft, while, if the handle shaft is stretched and pushed, the handle shaft is settled into an unfolded state, thus the knuckle part of the handle shaft being not influenced by the driving motion. According to the present invention, the bag containing the reel looks neat, the damage to the reel can be prevented because of the folding of the handle shaft, and the volume of the bag containing the reel becomes very small.
