ABSTRACT The present invention is directed to a novel handle structure for radioactive medical materials storage and transport containers. The handle structure comprises a vertical shaft connected to the container by a short open sleeve attached near the top of one side of the container so that the shaft may move upwardly and downwardly in the sleeve and rotate therein. The top of the shaft has a horizontal handle extending therefrom and the opposite side of the bottom of the shaft has a pin extending outwardly therefrom, which pin is engageable with a locking groove in the sleeve which retains and orients the handle with respect to the container when the handle is in the raised position.
