A hand-held shower attachment (10) has a coaxially screwed-on handle (22) or a handle forming one piece with a hollow shaft (12) of the shower attachment (10) at the inlet end thereof. The handle (22) consists of a tubular element (24) and of a handle sleeve (38). By axially displacing the handle sleeve a pair of coaxial blind holes (28, 30) of the tubular member are hydraulically connected to one another, whereby water is discharged from a sprinkler head (16). When the handle sleeve is in its opposite position the sprinkler head is locked against the pressure water supply. Thanks to large area end flanges (52, 54) of the handle sleeve (38), the latter can even be displaced by such disabled persons who are not able to control their finger movements.
