ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a handling assembly incorporating deformable suction cups for handling objects presenting a smooth and non-porous surface for application of the suction cups, said assembly comprising a body and at least one deformable suction cup mounted on this body. This handling assembly comprises a single mechanism for suppressing the gripping effect of the suction cups which allows suppression of the gripping effects of the various suction cups in one manoeuvre and which is itself constituted by a manoeuvring member mounted mobile on the body; a single-piece control assembly mounted mobile on the body and with respect thereto and pre- senting as many mobile control zones as there are suction cups; suction cup connections connecting, each suction cup connection, one suction cup to one control zone; and manoeuvring connections connecting, each manoeuvring connection, one manoeuvring member to said control assembly. One application is the production of an assembly handling plate glass, and, more generally, any smooth, non-porous surface.
