Tasks (T) such as repair jobs on a telecommunications system, that are to be performed by a plurality of resources such as field engineers (E), at different locations in a geographical area (2), are scheduled by means of a scheduler (10) at a work manager server (5). The scheduler provides schedule data (11) corresponding to schedules of the tasks that individual ones of the resources are to carry out, form task data (4) concerning the tasks to be carried out and resource data (6) concerning characteristics of resources available to carry out the tasks over a given period. Not all the tasks are scheduled, resulting in unscheduled task data (11a). The schedule data (11) is downloaded to a workstation (7) together with the unscheduled task data. The downloaded data is analysed at the workstation to determine a candidate resource (E) to perform the task (T) corresponding to the unscheduled task data.

Selon l'invention, des tâches (T) telles que des réparations sur un système de télécommunications, qui doivent être effectuées par plusieurs ressources, par exemple des ingénieurs de maintenance (I), en différents endroits dans une zone géographique (2) donnée, sont programmées au moyen d'un programmateur (10) sur un serveur gestionnaire de travaux (5). Le programmateur produit des données (11) d'ordonnancement correspondant à des programmes des tâches que chacune des ressources concernées devra exécuter, à partir de données de tâches (4) relatives aux tâches à exécuter et de données de ressources (6) relatives aux caractéristiques des ressources disponibles pour effectuer lesdites tâches sur une période donnée. Toutes les tâches ne sont pas programmées, le résultat étant des données de tâches occasionnelles (11a). Les données (11) d'ordonnancement sont téléchargées dans un poste de travail (7) avec les données des tâches occasionnelles. Les données téléchargées sont analysées par le poste de travail afin de déterminer une ressource (I) susceptible d'exécuter la tâche (T) correspondant aux données des tâches occasionnelles.
