A telecommunications system and method for performing a handover between the fixed (wireline) network and a mobile network during a call placed to or from a dual mode device, without any interruption in the voice or data connection. Therefore, for calls initiated in the fixed network, once the subscriber leaves the coverage area for the fixed mode of the dual mode device, the call continues as normal by transferring the call to the mobile network. Similarly, for calls initiated in the mobile network, once the subscriber moves back into the fixed mode coverage area, the call can be transferred to the fixed network in order to provide a lower rate to the subscriber, without any service interruption.

Système et procédé de télécommunications permettant d'opérer un transfert entre le réseau fixe (à fil) et un réseau mobile pendant un appel établi depuis un poste téléphonique à double mode ou vers ce dernier, sans interruption de la connexion vocale ou de données. Par conséquent, pour des appels établis dans le réseau fixe, une fois que l'abonné quitte la zone de couverture du mode fixe du poste à double mode, l'appel continue normalement par transfert dudit appel sur le réseau mobile. De même, pour des appels établis dans le réseau mobile, une fois que l'abonné revient dans la zone de couverture à mode fixe, l'appel peut être transféré sur le réseau fixe, l'abonné étant ainsi soumis à une tarification plus basse, sans qu'il y ait interruption du service.
