On this escalator (1) which has on each side a balustrade (1.1) with handrail (2) the balustrade (1.1) is held by a balustrade base (1.2). A step-band (1.3) which has steps (1.4) and transports persons abuts at the side against the balustrade base (1.2). A handrail-drive (2.1) drives the handrail (2) , a friction-wheel (3) driving the handrail (2) on the outside (2.2). On the inside (2.3) of the handrail (2), rollers (8) press the handrail (2) against the friction-wheel (3). A friction-wheel (4) arranged on a step chain-wheel (5) drives the friction-wheel (3) by frictional or mechanical engagement.
Sur le présent escalier roulant (1) doté de chaque côté d'un garde-corps (1.1) avec une main courante (2), le garde-corps (1.1) est retenu par une base de garde-corps (1.2). Une bande de marches (1.3) qui est munie de marches (1.4) et qui transporte des personnes est contiguë au côté contre la base de garde-corps (1.2). Un dispositif d'entraînement de la main courante (2.1) entraîne celle-ci (2), une roue de friction (3) entraîne la main courante (2) sur l'extérieur (2.2). Sur l'intérieur (2.3) de la main courante (2), des rouleaux (8) compriment la main courante (2) contre la roue de friction (3). Une roue de friction (4) placée sur une roue à chaîne de marche (5) entraîne la roue de friction (3) au moyen d'un engagement mécanique ou par friction.
