Disclosed is a handsaw guard which is detachably connected to a portion of a handsaw so as to protect the area around a person's hand when cutting through an object with a handsaw. The guard has a generally C-shaped cylindrical portion which is capable of being snap-fitted to a post of the handsaw adjacent the handle grip and a plate-like shell portion integrally formed with the cylindrical portion and extending outwardly from a side of the cylindrical portion.
