A hanger for suspending a light fixture from ceiling joists includes, at opposite ends thereof, integral nail-in tabs. Each nail-in tab is recessed and includes a generally blunt pointed portion for penetrating the joist. Each tab is cup-shaped for resistance against buckling, and includes barbs for resisting dislodgement of the tab from the joist.
