A hanger is provided for hanging an object on a rail supported on a plurality of spaced apart posts, for example a fence or railing. The hanger includes a pair of mounting hooks arranged to be supported laterally spaced apart on the rail and a post mount arranged to be supported on one of the posts. A supporting structure is arranged to mount the mounting hooks laterally spaced apart from one another and connect the post mount to the mounting hooks spaced laterally between and vertically spaced below the mounting hooks. The supporting structure extends outwardly from a mounting plane spanning between the mounting hooks and post mount to a free end arranged to support the object thereon. The hanger is particularly useful for hanging objects on a fence or railing in an attractive and accessible manner suitable for example for both potted plants or poolside accessories.
