A hanging planter is to be so configured that its useful life is significantly increased and such that no mechanical connecting elements or tools are required to connect its individual components. According to the present invention, a first embodiment of the planter consists of a flower box (28) and at least two flower box holders (10) that are manufactured from a durable material, preferably a plastic. The suspension brackets (12) are snapped together with the supporting brackets (11). In addition, in the horizontal arm (11b) of the supporting bracket (11) there is a sliding bracket (22) that is similarly secured by a detent arrangement. According to a second embodiment, in the upper area are of the side wall of the flower box (20) there are at least two moulded-in pockets (15), into each of which one arm of the suspension bracket (12) is inserted. The connection is similarly effected by appropriate serrations. The bottom of the flower box (28) is provided with a plurality of recesses in which a sliding bracket (14) is snapped. In the case of the flower box holder (10), this sliding bracket (14) is slid into the horizontal arm (11b) of the supporting bracket (11) The planter according to the present invention is particularly suitable for installation on a balcony railing.
