ABSTRACT A twist drill with internal cooling channels comprises a shank and a cutter section. The cutter section, is entirely of hard metal, and has at least two helical flutes forming a cut chip space. The flutes extend the entire length of the cutter section, the face of the end section remote from the drill cutting tip being connected to a face surface formed on the forward end section of the shank. The cooling channels in the cutter section and the shank are sealed from the chip space by soldered mutually matching surfaces between the cutter section and the shank.
