Improved hard surface cleaning compositions having an acidic pH provide good removal of soap scum stains, and further feature low levels of irritability to the user. The compositions comprise 0.1-10 % by weight of an acid sequestrant constituent; 0.1-10 % by weight of a mixture of hydrophobic and hydrophilic solvents; 0.001- 1 % by weight of a single constituent which exhibits both anionic surfactant and hydrotrop properties; 0-20 % by weight of one or more optional constituents; the balance to 100 % by weight of water, wherein the aqueous hard surface cleaning composition exhibits a pH of 7.0 or less, especially a pH of 5.0 and less. Although acidic, the improved hard surface cleaning compositions feature low irritability to the eyes and skin of consumers. The compositions also provide disinfecting effects. Processes for the production of the said compositions, as well as methods for their use are also described.
L'invention concerne des compositions améliorées de nettoyage de surfaces dures ayant un pH acide, qui éliminent efficacement les taches de mousse de savon et possèdent un pouvoir irritant très faible pour l'usager. Les compositions de l'invention contiennent entre 0,1 et 10 % en poids d'un constituant séquestrant acide; entre 0,1 et 10 % en poids d'un mélange de solvants hydrophobes et hydrophiles; entre 0,001 et 1 % en poids d'un constituant unique présentant un tensioactif anionique et des propriétés d'hydrotopie; entre 0 et 20 % en poids d'un ou de plusieurs constituants facultatifs; un pourcentage en poids d'eau d'équilibrage. Cette composition aqueuse de nettoyage de surfaces dures possède un pH d'au plus 7,0, notamment un pH d'au plus 5,0. Bien qu'acides, ces compositions améliorées de nettoyage de surfaces dures ont un faible pouvoir irritant pour les yeux et la peau des usagers. Les compositions de l'invention ont également un pouvoir désinfectant. L'invention concerne en outre des méthodes de production et d'utilisation desdites compositions.
