The design of a hardware component such as a digital filter can be optimised by taking an initial population of filter designs and encoding them as chromosomes. The fitness of each chromosome is then evaluated and parent chromosomes are then selected based on the fitness criteria. Offspring chromosomes are then generated ussing genetic operations such as mutation and crossover from the pool of offspring, and optionally parents, individuals are selected to survive using a combination of Pareto fronts based on non- dominated individuals and clustering. The process is repeated or until a termination criteria is satisfied.

La conception d'un composant matériel, tel qu'un filtre numérique, peut être optimisée par codage en chromosomes d'une population initiale de modèles de filtres. La cote de chaque chromosome est alors évaluée et des chromosomes parents sont ensuite sélectionnés selon les critères de cote. Des chromosomes successeurs sont ensuite produits par des opérations génétiques, telles qu'une mutation ou un croisement, à partir du groupement de successeurs, ou éventuellement de parents; des individus sont sélectionnés pour survivre au moyen d'une combinaison de fronts de Pareto basés sur des individus non dominés et le groupage. Le procédé est répétée jusqu'à ce qu'un critère de terminaison soit rempli.
