An input filter for use in a re-multiplexing module to process input packet data, includes an input interface that receives the input packet data, an input processor that is designed to write data to a packet buffer, and a packet identifier table containing PID values for filtering the input packet data. The input filter is implemented as hardware, thereby eliminating the limitations encounted in software filtering of data packets.

Selon l'invention, on utilise un filtre d'entr~e dans un module de remultiplexage, afin de traiter des donn~es de paquets d'entr~e. Ce filtre comprend une interface d'entr~e qui re×oit les donn~es de paquets d'entr~e, un processeur d'entr~e con×u pour ~crire des donn~es dans une m~moire tampon de paquets, ainsi qu'une table d'identification de paquets contenant des valeurs d'identification de paquets (PID) servant ~ filtrer les donn~es des paquets d'entr~e. On utilise ce filtre d'entr~e en tant que mat~riel informatique, de mani­re ~ supprimer les limites rencontr~es avec les logiciels, dans le filtrage de paquets de donn~es.
