A carriage assembly for a disk drive actuator comprises a load beam having a tab extending distally from its distal end, a gimbal having a proximal end connected to the distal end of said load beam, and having a flexure upon which a read/write head is the load attached. The gimbal had a restraining member at its distal end, through which the tab of the load beam extends. The restraining member contacts the tab when the carriage assembly undergoes shock, to prevent excessive movement of the gimbal.

L'invention porte sur ensemble chariot pour unité de disque comprenant: un bras de lecture/écriture dont l'extrémité distale se prolonge par une languette et un cardan dont l'extrémité proximale, reliée à l'extrémité distale du bras de charge, présente un élément souple auquel est fixée la tête de lecture écriture. Le cardan comporte à son extrémité distale un élément limiteur à travers lequel s'étend la languette du bras. L'élément limiteur entre en contact avec la languette lorsque l'ensemble chariot subit un choc, ce qui empêche les mouvements excessifs du cardan.
