ABSTRACT A head immobilization device is disclosed comprising a foundation portion and a restraining portion. The foundation portion comprises a foundation panel and a first engaging means situated on the top surface of the foundation panel. The restraining portion comprises a base panel, two side panels extending laterally from the outer sides of the base panel, two outside panels extending laterally from the outer side of each of the side panels, two anchor panels extending laterally from the outer side of each of the outside panels and a second engaging means situated on the top surface of each of the anchor panels such that the second engaging means is engagable with the first engaging means so as to place the side panels and the outside panels in proper conformation to immobilize the head of a patient placed between the side panels. Preferably, the first engaging means comprises a first strip of Velcro and the second engaging means comprises a second strip of Velcro which is the mate to the first strip of Velcro. In certain embodiments of the devices of the present invention the foundation portion is constructed from a first distinct sheet of material and the restraining portion is constructed from a second discrete sheet of material and the upper surface of the foundation portion is attached to the lower surface of the base panel of the restraining portion. In other embodiments, the foundation portion and the restraining portion are constructed from the same sheet of material and the base panel extends outward from and in the same plane with the foundation panel.
