A head mountable apparatus is described for transmitting an image to the user's eye using switchable holographic optical elements. In one embodiment, an optical system is provided that is configured to receive an image provided by an image generator and which forms a light path along which light is transmitted from the image generator to an eye of the user. The optical system includes a first section disposed at an end of the optical system adjacent to a user's eye and a second section configured to transmit light received by the optical system to the first section. The first section of the optical system includes at least one switchable holographic optical element.
Cette invention a trait à un appareil pouvant être porté sur la tête et transmettant une image aux yeux de son porteur à l'aide d'éléments optiques holographiques commutables. Dans un mode de réalisation, le système optique est configuré pour recevoir une image fournie par un générateur d'image et définit un passage lumineux le long duquel la lumière est transmise, du générateur d'image à un oeil de l'utilisateur. Le système optique comprend une première partie placée à une extrémité du système optique contigu de l'oeil et une seconde partie configuré pour transmettre la lumière reçue par le système optique à la première partie. Cette première partie du système optique comporte au moins un élément optique holographique commutable.
