The invention provides a prosthetic valve having a generally annular frame with three post and three scallops. The frame is tri-symmetric with an axis of symmetry defined by the axis of blood flow through the valve. The external surface of the frame is generally cylindrical with diameter D. Each leaflet has a truncated spherical surface adjacent to its free edge. The spherical surface is joined tangentially to a truncated conical surface. The half angle of the truncated cone is approximately 37.5~. The radius of the sphere is approximately D/2 - 0.5 (mm). The leaflet surface is axi-symmetrical with the axis of symmetry being perpendicular to the axis of the valve frame and blood flow.

L'invention concerne une valvule cardiaque prothétique présentant une structure généralement circulaire ainsi que trois supports saillants et trois bordures échancrées. Cette structure est trisymétrique et présente également un axe de symétrie défini par l'axe du débit sanguin dans la valvule. Cette structure présente enfin une surface extérieure généralement cylindrique et de diamètre D. Chaque valve présente une surface sphérique tronquée adjacente à son extrémité libre. Cette surface sphérique est reliée tangentiellement à une surface tronconique. Le demi-angle de cette surface tronconique se situe approximativement à 37,5·, et le rayon de la surface sphérique est à peu près égal à D/2 - 0,5 (mm). La surface de chaque valve est axisymétrique, son axe de symétrie étant perpendiculaire à l'axe de la structure de la valvule et à l'axe du débit sanguin.
