A prosthetic heart valve (10) includes an orifice ring (12) adapted to carry blood therethrough. An annular recess (44) is formed in an outer surface of the orifice ring and has first and second axially spaced walls (46, 48). A sewing cuff (20) is adapted to be coupled to a native tissue annulus of a heart and includes an inner annular cuff portion (51) adapted to conform to the first and second recess walls (46, 48) in the orifice ring. A cuff retaining ring (40) extends around the inner annular cuff portion (51) such that the inner annular cuff portion (51) is positioned between the cuff retaining ring (40) and the annular recess (44). The cuff retaining ring (40) is further adapted to exert a substantially axially directed force whereby a controllable torque is required to rotate the cuff (20) relative to the orifice ring (12).

La bague (40) de retenue du manchon est en outre adaptée pour exercer une force dirigée sensiblement dans le sens axial étant donné qu'un couple régulable est nécessaire pour faire tourner le manchon (20) par rapport à la bague (12) d'écoulement.
