A heat ablative coating composition is prepared by combining an epoxy silane resin, an epoxy resin, a silicone intermediate, a silicon-modified polyether, an aminosilane, at least one organometallic catalyst, at least one organic solvent, water, at least one filler, optional nonsilicon-containing amine catalyst, and optional pigments and thixotropic agents. The heat ablative coating composition is applied to a substrate to form a film having a build thickness in the range of from about 0.1 to 0.5 inches that is capable of curing at ambient outdoor temperature in about seven days, depending on ambient conditions. The heat ablative film so formed is designed to undergo a slow thermal decomposition when exposed to high temperature conditions without igniting or causing excessive smoke, and is designed to have good thermal conductivity to protect the underlying substrate from thermal decomposition. The heat ablative film has elastomeric properties of impact resistance and flexibility that serves to both protect an underlying structure from mechanical damage due to particle or other contact, and facilitate its use with flexible substrates.
L'invention concerne une composition de revêtement pour ablation thermique, préparée en combinant une résine époxysilane, une résine époxy, un intermédiaire de silicone, un polyéther modifié par une silicone, un aminosilane et au moins un catalyseur organométallique, au moins un solvant organique, de l'eau, au moins une charge, éventuellement un catalyseur aminé ne contenant pas de silicone, des pigments et des agents thixotropes. La composition de revêtement pour ablation thermique est appliquée à un substrat pour former un film ayant une épaisseur dans la plage de 0,1 à 0,5 pouces environ, qui est capable de durcir à la température ambiante externe en sept jours environ, en fonction des conditions qui prévalent. Le film pour ablation thermique ainsi formé est destiné à subir une décomposition thermique lente quand il est exposé à des conditions de température élevée, sans prendre feu et sans causer des fumées excessives et il a une bonne conductivité thermique pour protéger le substrat sous-jacent contre la chaleur. Le film pour ablation thermique a des propriétés d'élastomère flexible capable de résister aux impacts, ce qui permet de protéger une structure sous-jacente des atteintes mécaniques provoquées par des particules ou d'autres contacts ce qui facilite son utilisation sur des substrats flexibles.
