A B S T R A C T By designing the casing (2) of a drum type washing machine to comprise a double-section tank, and by directing the works water through the tank space (6) is achieved that the works water is preheated by the water contained in the tank before this water is passed on to the sewer system. Without the use of a separate heat exchanger it is thus possible to restore and accordingly save thermal energy.
