Heat Exchanger Core With End Covers Abstract The outermost tubes of a heat exchanger core have not been as adequately cooled as have the interior tubes by the flow of air between the fins and the tubes. Herein, a cover is connected over the edges of the fins defining a respective one of first and second end surfaces and is spaced from the inlet surface of the core. Consequently, the outermost tube, which is nearest the cover, is cooled substantially to the same degree as the other tubes. In one embodiment of the present invention, about a 5% increase in the thermal efficiency of the core is attained.
