ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes a heat motor and control therefor for use in a valve construction, comprising a cylinder in which a heat responsive material is located, a base joined to said cylinder and projecting outwardly therefrom, a piston mounted for longitudinal movement in said base and in response to a predetermined increase in temperature of said heat responsive material, a flexible printed circuit heating element surrounding said cylinder and being operable to heat said material to an effective operating temperature, an insulating sleeve surrounding said heating element for insulating the heating element during the heating cycle thereof, and a thermal switch mounted directly on said cylinder and electrically connectable in circuit with said heating element, said switch being normally closed to complete the electrical circuit to said heating element, and including a temperature responsive element that is movable in response to a predetermined temperature in said cylinder to open the circuit to said heating element, wherein the heating element is deenergized.
