ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A heat protection device for an overvoltage arrester for use in telecommunications comprises a resilient element insertable into sprung engagement in a magazine containing the overvoltage arrester and having an end portion provided with a solder preform and a contact. The end portion is resiliently biased by the resilience of the resilient element for causing the contact to contact the overvoltage arrester upon melting of the solder preform. The resilient element further comprising one or more tabs for latching engagement with the overvoltage arrester for retaining the resilient element in the magazine.
