ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a heat pump in which the outdoor heat exchanger is subjected to near freezing temperatures or below during its winter operation. Provision is made to mount the heat exchange coil in an enclosure so that outside air may be drawn into the enclo- sure through the heat exchange coil, and thence through a fan to an exhaust duct below the heat exchange coil. The heat exchange coil is also mounted in the enclosure in such a manner that the lower surface of the coil is un- supported by any enclosure hardware, so that any moisture or condensation formed during a defrost cycle may drop free of an encumberances.
