-19- HEAT PUMP METHOD OF CONCENTRATING FLUIDS ABSTRACT An apparatus 10 is disclosed for concentrating fluid and for providing electrical power. The apparatus 10 comprises an evaporator 14 and a condenser 26 interconnected by a conduit 18. A heat exchanger 12 thermally couples warm liquid to the fluid in the evaporator 14. Means are pro- vided for coupling a cool liquid to the condenser 26, thereby creating a mass flow of vapor from the evaporator 14 to the condenser 26. A prime mover 20 is interposed in the conduit 18 for converting the mass flow of vapor into mechanical movement. An electrical generator 22 is coupled to the prime mover 20 enabling an electrical control 24 to direct the output of the electrical generator 22 for opera- ting the apparatus 10 and for directing excessive electrical energy produced by the electrical generator 22 for external use.
